Why Google Play needs Pro
Google Play accepts new apps only as Android App Bundles (AAB), and every update to a published app must be signed with the same upload key as the first release. Free builds are APKs signed with a shared key, which is right for direct installs and wrong for a store listing you will maintain for years. Pro gives you both the format and a key of your own.
